In a few days the level of difficulty in AdWords will be strongly raised by the trivial change to the desktop search results. In a few days right sidebar dissapears from Ad Words search results.
In this way, giant from Mountian View, once again shows who is in charge in this industry. According to SearchEngineLand, Google is implementing this change as we speak. It will not affect US first and later other countries. This time the update will be instant for everyone (all countries and all languages). The exception where the right sidebar will appear is the product advertisements like Google Merchant Center.
What’s more – there will be fourth ad result at the top and it will be showed in very competitive phrases, for example. „loans”, „insurance” etc.
The change will certainly increase rates per click significantly. People managing AdWords campaigns will not have an easy task. Companies with smaller budgets will be at disadvantage.
The question now arises – what Google wants to achieve with this change. Surely their income will increase and there is no doubt about it. From the point of view of the user, removing right column will focus search on looking at main results which will result more clicks for higher positions. The question is whether Mountian View giant want to check how much their customers are willing to pay for the first position in search results? I guess time will tell.
